SURVEYOR'S NOTEBOOK

Murat Kilic Joins Martin & Ottaway

It is a pleasure to introduce Capt. Murat Kilic as a member of the M&O consultant team.

I first met Murat as a client on the construction of two high speed catamarans in Sicily for the Oman National Ferries Corporation. At that time, he was the fleet manager and there were some construction issues at the yard in Sicily. We have done occasional additional work for Murat and Oman National Ferries where he later became COO.

In 2022 Murat resigned from Oman National Ferries and moved to Estonia, his wife’s native country, where he has opened his own consultancy and is completing a Master’s degree in Marine Engineering.

Murat has joined M&O as our man in Estonia, or more accurately, our man in the Baltic. As his resume shows, his experience closely follows the typical M&O senior consultant experience and background, with his BS in Mechanical Engineering from Glasgow Caledonian University, but also with a Captain’s license as a Maritime Academy graduate, an MBA and wide ranging marine operational experience.

His particular experience is related to the specification, costing, construction and operation of modern ferries, an area that is rapidly developing all over the world and with experience that ranges from Europe to East Asia.

Capt. Kilic can assist at smaller projects such a specification writing or feasibility studies or larger projects such as construction supervision. Most of all, we look forward to being able to offer his services to our clients as our man in Europe in our wide range of assignments.
