When picking through the odds and ends in a corner of the Grover House, I came across a set of prints that were issued by the Hudson River Sloop Clearwater in 1979. They were a reissued and updated version of the 1845 William Wade panorama of the Hudson River between the Battery and Albany.
Wade created the print as fan fold booklet for passenger on Hudson steamers to use as a reference during their trip.
The original Clearwater prints looked like this on the front. It made them hard to read, and moreover I could not figure out how to display these prints on a website.
The detail on the prints is wonderful.
On the back Clearwater provided lots of additional information on the River in a vertical sequential fashion that is provided at the end of this blog.
Our summer intern Bob Delghiaccio edited the prints to allow the reader a historical and a 1979 trip up and down the Hudson.
The way they are now arranged, you can start at Jersey City and follow the West shore of the river and turn around at Albany at the end of Hudson 5 and follow the East shore of the river.

Hopefully it will be an interesting trip. It also makes me think in terms of updating the trip with present photos maybe in the months to come.
This is the back sequence:
