SURVEYOR'S NOTEBOOK

Alla Tsiring on Throw Back Thursday

Alla Tsiring’s adventures did not start when she joined Martin & Ottaway in 1994 as our book keeper.

Her adventures started in Russia and included her escape with her husband Lenny during a period of Glasnost with intermediate stops at all sorts of interesting places.

However, she had never gone on a ship survey during those adventures.

When we were asked to perform a purchase survey on the Russian ship Ivan Derbenyev in Brooklyn in 1995, we needed a Russian interpreter toot sweet and Alla was volunteered.

She joined Pierce, and yesterday (during his once a decade desk cleanout), Pierce came across these pictures.

Alla lost her life in a terrible pedestrian accident in 2010. Sixteen years of great service to our company, watching our backs, and plain fun. We miss her every day.
