If there is a marine explosion, chances are Martin & Ottaway gets a call. An explosion investigation is hard work and requires a huge amount of data collection. It can be an exhausting and often confusing task. Today there are great tools to quickly build a model, but even with the best tools (drones, laser scanning, digital photo analysis, video, AIS, etc) ultimately the main question needs to be answered: What the hell happened?
Remarkably, after all the work has been done, the actual mechanics become rather straightforward and often irrefutable.
To allow everybody to keep track of the facts, the mechanics generally can be distilled into a few simple sketches. This set is one of many we have done over the years.
