IMO has been the main developer of international maritime regulations. These regulations develop at a very rapid pace, and ship owners and operators often struggle to keep up with and make sense out of emerging regulations.
This 2004 Jim Dolan paper provides a status update on the IMO state of the art and particularly as it applies within the MEPC and MSC areas. In 2004 the main subjects on the table ranged from CAS to “Prestige” issues to bulk carrier safety to air emissions to ballast water treatment.
